Obsession Session Issue 1

Time for a change: Looking forward

What an absolute year it has been, not only for Obsession Wines, but for the entire world. Starting with a bang, Brayne Estate and Obsession Wines took a massive hit with the January 2019/2020 bushfires. Unfortunately the winery suffered huge losses infrastructure damage, machinery and vineyard destruction. Luckily coming from a tight knit community, the support we have received has been unwavering. We were fortunate enough to be part of some pretty amazing bushfire recovery support initiatives and were championed by our loyal customers with continued purchases from new and long-standing wine lovers.

We still have a substantial amount of rebuilding to complete as part of this unfortunate event, however, a new passion and a bigger 'Obsession' to rebuild and deliver the same amazing product stands. You could say the fire ignited our passion after a period of grief.

Covid hit shortly after and despite the desolation to all, it provided a good moment to re reflect on where our passion laid, and where this new energy could be directed. Again we were kindly supported by our community and customer base to continue producing product and plan for the future of the business.

Thank you doesnt seem adequate to express my gratitude, so ill continue to produce great product for your ongoing enjoyment!

SO WHATS THE PLAN STAN?

Now with a new sense of normal around ever changing restrictions, our minds are racing with future projects including new product releases of some fresh varieties, onsite events, collaborations, and education opportunities.

We recently completed a shoot with two of our favourite Snowy Valley locals Holly & Matt from @OLT.Media. Not only do these two make us seriously jealous about their Australian travel adventures but they are amazingly talented behind the camera! We are so excited for your to see some amazing new imagery across our website, through and newsletter and on our social media! We are looking forward to an ongoing working and travel relationship with the dynamic duo! Let us know what you think about the new look!

You'll soon notice some of our Gold label range getting a new look. We are hoping this new design not only is visually stimulating but provides a great talking point and a lasting reminder of the delicious product you tasted around the dinner table! As a small business we are working closely with a few other small business to produce the new look - more details to come!

Unfortunately our cellar door currenlty remains is closed to the public as we continue to recover from the 2020 bush fires, however dont let that stop you shopping local and visiting our region! We are hoping to host a few events coming in to the warmer months to visit us in the flesh - youll be the first to know!

Have you tried our 2018 Chardonnay?

Obsession Chardonnay is made to express the purity of the Tumbarumba cold climate. The grapes used in this vintage are hand picked and Whole Bunch Pressed to retain fresh crisp fruit characters. The juice collected from press is fermented with the wild yeast that naturally form of the bunch in French oak barrels. The 2018 Obsession Chardonnay goes through 100% malolactic fermentation and lees stirring to build on a rich palette. To round off the process, a 12 month period of rest in barrels is completed before bottling. At Obsession we use no fining agents to avoid altering the natural flavours of the variety and region in the wine.
